DOSS STAGE

“Eureka!”—that was Archimedes exclaiming while running naked through the streets of Syracuse in a famous anecdote. It’s also what anyone might think when listening to the music of Marco Castello, a singer-songwriter who, though 2000 years younger than his fellow Syracusan, shares a similar spark of brilliance when he writes. Are we exaggerating? Maybe, but it’s easy to get carried away when talking about Marco Castello. His songs stick to your skin like a t-shirt on a scorching August afternoon, but with a freshness that immediately lifts your mood.

“Contenta tu” and “Pezzi della sera” are the gems of his discography, showcasing a repertoire that smoothly glides between the 70s Battisti, Nu Genea, nu jazz, and the post-irony of the internet. On Saturday, September 14, atop the Doss, there will be a grand Mediterranean celebration where standing still will be impossible.
